Description

Designing in String by Robert E. Sharpton, a mathematics professor at Miami-Dade Junior College.  In an attempt to find a captivating method for teaching people of all ages the basics of mathematics, he discovered what he calls “string art.”  Using a board, a background material, brads, and twine, Mr. Sharpton creates artistic string designs composed of circles, arcs, equilateral triangles, hyperboles, double elipses, and other geometric shapes.  String art aids younger students in learning mathematical calculations and also aids in the development of psychomotor skills and visual coordination.
