Description
Up for auction is a Very Rare Original Copy of The Billboard Coin Machine Digest Magazine.Made for the coin-op industry, original copies of these early magazines are non-existent. This is the only copy I have ever found and I’ve owned it for 30 years.
This is Volume 1, No. 15, dated August 25, 1945.
You will not likely ever have an opportunity to acquire another copy. Inside are wonderful photographs of slot machines, pinball machines, novelty machines, vending machine candy, counter and large floor model fans, security boxes, games of skill and games of chance!
Advertised within the magazine with photos are coin op machines and related items including
Williams “Circus Romance,”
George Ponser “Whee Gee Mystic,”
and
“Pitch ‘Em and Catch ‘Em Baseball Game,”
Simon Sales “Super Torpedo,”
Jacobs Novelty “Replacement Jukebox Cabinets,”
E. N. Mimms Large Fans,
United Manufacturing Co. “Trade Winds,”
and
“Wagon Wheels,”
Mike Munves “Super Skeeroll,”
Supreme Enterprise Co. “Bolascore,”
and
“Rocket Buster,”
Mills Slot Machines,
Precision Novelty House Pecan Roll Assortment, Clark & Henke Electric Counter Fans and Security Boxes, Permo coin phonograph needles and much more!
Many of the advertisements include prices such as .50 for a Mills Slot Machine or 5 for “Super Skeeroll.” There are also many other machines listed in print by name, but not pictured ABC Bowler, Air Circus, Gun Club, Knockout,
K. O. the Jap
, Jungle, Sky Rider, Texas Mustang, Victory, Yanks and much more!
This post-World War II book still contains references to buying War Bonds and “post war profits.” It is filled with ads from manufacturers, distributors, vendors and even repair services.
Also of interest are photographs of Sam Stern and the Markepp Sales Co. building in Cleveland, Ohio. The Bally Manufacturing Co. of Chicago has taken out two full pages.
