    Description

Vintage 1932 Radio Antennas H.H. Beverage Edition 2 Home Study Booklet
This item is a vintage Radio Antennas by H. H. Beverage, B.S. Radio Engineer Fellow, Institute of Radio Engineers. Edition 2 Copyright 1932 in Great Britain. Original copyright 1929 by International Textbook Company.  It was designed as a home study course for the International Correspondence Schools of Scranton, PA.
The book measures about 7 1/2 X 5 inches and has 45 pages plus 2 pages of Examination Questions. The book's cover is in fair to good condition showing soiling from long term storage and moving around. The front upper area shows some mottling/darkening that might be light exposure related.  The inner pages are in very good condition with no rips or tears. The binding uses two staples which are holding well.  Please carefully check the pictures to assist you with determining the condition.
The book is a wonderful reference for antenna knowledge of the time frame, from the person who developed the wave antenna or  "Beverage Antenna", H. H. Beverage. Here is a link for more information on him.https://ethw.org/Harold_H._Beverage
The book contains sections on the Principles of Transmission, Types of Antennas, Direction Finding, Antenna Properties, Antenna Installations including the Light Socket Antenna for receiving. There are examination questions at the end.  Here are a few:
What is the advantage of using a counterpoise in place of a poor ground in a transmitting antenna installation?
What effect would the insertion of an inductance coil at the base of an antenna have on it's wavelength?
The length of the lead-in and flat-top portion of a single-wire L-type antenna is 200 feet. Calculate roughly its fundamental wavelength in meters.
This will make a unique & wonderful addition to a collection of vintage radio, including amateur / ham radio materials.
