Description

The Capped Bust series
is a favorite of many collectors due to its early mintage, beautiful design and relative availability.  Designed by John Reich and first minted in 1807, these coins are more or less available and affordable to serious collectors especially in circulated grades.  The minting process in the early days of our country was a slow and inexact science unlike the system used today.  Coins were turned out on hand operated presses and as a result mintages were low and many varieties exist for any given date.  For these coins to make it to the modern day in any grade they had to beat the odds of circulation, damage by mishandling, and general attrition due to melt, lost hoards and other damage.
T
he coin offered here is a survivor and is nearly 200 years old.  Imagine that one of the founders of our country may have used this coin in everyday commerce!  Here is a chance to own a great collectible and to hold a piece of U.S history in your hands!
This particular example
is an 1835 Half Dime certified by PCGS as Uncirculated, cleaned.
There are four different varieties of this date and this is the small date, small 5C variety.  This coin is a beauty with great eye appeal.  It has nice original cartwheel mint luster, is nicely struck and has a pleasing white color circled by nice toning of light orange and sea green.  The PCGS grader must have had a hangover because this coin certainly does not look like it has been messed with and it would make a great candidate for resubmission.  But being in the holder as it is I am selling it for low AU money.  Here is a chance to get a great coin at a great price!  It would make a great addition to any high grade Bust Half Dime collection or would make an excellent Type coin.   Buy It Now and I will ship it out ASAP for Free!
